Co-curricular - Senior Sport

From the Head of Sport 25 October

The first round of the ISA Summer Competitions began last Saturday with the First XI Cricket side playing on Breen Oval against Central Coast Grammar School. With a young and new look First XI side, Mr Simpson would be happy with his team’s performance recording a convincing win. Congratulations to Joshua Malone for taking 6 wickets and Matthew Plunket for top scoring with 92 runs.

In Basketball, the First V put together an impressive team performance for their first outing. The team finished the game on a strong note and ran away with a controlling 80 - 70 win against Redlands. We hope to see the momentum carry on over the coming weeks as they play four away fixtures.

The First IX Baseball side took to the diamond and sadly went down to Five Dock in a 9-10 run loss. Though the game did not reflect the result the boys wanted, the team's overall effort and close nature of the game against a top side is something to be proud of.

To view more results and reports for the Summer sports during the season, please know that Weekly MIC Reports are published via the SPC App for all to view each week.

Good luck to all teams this coming Saturday for their fixtures.

Summer Sport Expectations

I wish to emphasise a couple of key points regarding the College’s sporting expectations for all students:

Attendance at all Games is Compulsory.

Any boy who is unable to play due to injury will attend his team’s Saturday fixture in a supportive role as a way of fulfilling his Co-curricular commitment. If a student fails to attend a Saturday fixture, upon his return to school, he must provide the Head of Sport or MIC with a medical certificate explaining his absence from the fixture.

  • A request to miss a training session or leave early from training should rarely occur. Should the need arise, an email should be forwarded to the Head of Sport or relevant MIC requesting permission well in advance.

  • All injuries a boy receives at training and/or on game days must be reported to the Coach. Boys who require medication or any medical equipment are reminded that they are responsible for bringing it with them to all trials, training sessions and weekend fixtures.

  • All boys involved in a Summer sport are to wear the correct playing attire for fixtures. Coaches have been instructed not to play any students wearing incorrect uniform.

  • Students who choose to support their peers are to be dressed in only College attire: College sports uniform consisting of the black Supporter’s shirt, black crested shorts, white socks, and sandshoes (College tracksuit in colder weather). The only cap to be worn is the black College cap.
