Curriculum

Teachers at the College are currently planning, programming, and preparing to teach the new NSW Years 5 to 10 syllabuses in English (K -10), Mathematics (K-10), Modern Languages (K-10) and in Stage 6, Geography, and Enterprise Computing for implementation in 2024. The new programs will prioritise essential knowledge, understanding and skills.

The new English programs will focus on explicit strategies to teach writing and enhance reading fluency to build vocabulary, improve writing skills and the use of language through the study of quality texts.

The new Mathematics programs will place a greater focus on ‘working mathematically’ skills where students communicate reasoning, understanding and fluency, and engage in problem solving. The programs will be progressively tailored to meet students’ needs.

It is envisaged that the content of the new syllabuses in English and Mathematics will better prepare students for their studies in Years 11 and 12, as well as post-school pathways.
