Mission Week

This week, students explored the concept of mission in their classrooms with their teachers. As a Catholic community, we have a scriptural call to outreach.

We reflected on the question: What does Jesus call us to do through service?

We raised awareness of Catholic Mission's intention to support people in Timor-Leste.

We made "sock balls" that were made out of recycled materials and kicked goals to help make a difference in order to "sock it to poverty".

We joined together for a whole school Mission Mass on Wednesday in the Church. We wore a touch of red to show solidarity with Catholic Mission. As well as wearing a touch of red to raise awareness of missionaries like Sister Carolina to improve lives of children like Jose, Maria and Elena, we asked students to bring in a donation for Catholic Mission’s Socktober initiative.

We thank everyone for reaching out to help our brothers and sisters in need in Timor- Leste.

Kind regards

Diocesan Mission Mass

On Thursday, 19th October, we went to a Mission Mass at the cathedral in Waitara with our religious education co-ordinator, Mrs. Stella. The Mass we attended was to raise awareness about Timor-Leste, and their struggles with education, health, food, and other necessities. This year's Mission Mass had a motto called “Hearts on fire, feet on the move." This means that we must always help others in tough situations. We learned about the missionary work of Sister Carolina and the experiences of families like those of Jose, Maria and Elena in Venilale, Timor-Leste.

This experience that we have had touched our hearts. We are called as Jesus followers to spread the Word and to reach out to others as he has told us to do.
