Principal's Message

Welcome back to all our ARPS families for term 4. I hope everyone enjoyed a relaxing holiday and found some time to make the most of the sunny weather over the break.

Our term will have a busy start, with rehearsals and preparations for our Whole School musical a major focus for the start of the term. Our attention will quickly turn to upcoming excursions, student leadership process, transition, end of year events (such as Carols) and preparations for 2024.

This term will also be a great opportunity to consolidate and extend learning, with over 11 weeks of curriculum time to engage our students.

The school will also be busy with facilities upgrades across the school. It will be wonderful for everyone to be able to access quality facilities once all the renovations are completed.

So much happening this term!

New Students

We have a significant number of new students join our school this term. Welcome to all our new families. We are sure you will enjoy the supportive and connected community at Albany Rise. I am sure our current families and community members will quickly include all our new families in upcoming events and school activities.

Hats: IMPORTANT REMINDER NO HAT NO PLAY & HATSLOTTO

At ARPS we have a SunSmart policy that requires every single student to have a hat. Sunsmart style is a must (NO CAPS), school uniform Hats are to be used.

At school we often reward students with a special treat (icypole) if they come to school with a named, school hat. Rewards are regularly provided at recess and lunchtimes, and occur on any day! We call this ‘Hatslotto’!

Students with no hat cannot be playing outside. They are required to be in shaded areas with staff reinforcing ‘no hat no play’ areas for students during lunchtimes if needed.

FACILITIES UPGRADE update

Our new toilet upgrade is well underway. We are so excited about how wonderful our new facilities will be once the project is completed. We do ask parents to reinforce the correct use of toilet facilities with students, as we are eager to keep our current and new facilities in the best possible state of functioning and hygiene.

Referendum BBQ @ ARPS- HELP NEEDED

We are very eager to have parents/grandparents/families to assist with our Sausage Sizzle at the referendum polling event at our school on Saturday 14th October. We welcome any assistance on the day. You can add your name to the roster by contacting the office.

Division Athletics Results

Our students competing in the Division Athletics today had a great day. Many thanks to Adam Summersett (parent/staff) for ferrying several students too and from the event.

Charli (Year 6)  made 2nd place in hurdles, therefore moving on to the Eastern Metropolitan Track & Field, 19th October at Tom Kelly athletics track, Doncaster. Well done Charli!

Ethan (Year 5) came 1st in high jump, also off to Eastern Metropolitan Track and Field. Amazing result, Ethan!

Charlotte did well in hurdles, coming 4th, Daniel also came 4th in shot put and Ella came 4th in discus.

Noah, Patricia and Octavian all competed strongly in their events.

Many thanks to all the parents who supported their children at the event. We look forward to celebrating the students’ success at assembly this week, and to potential further success in upcoming regional events.

Student Leadership positions 2024

During Term 4, our current year 4 and 5 students develop speeches to present to staff, leadership and students in year 3-5, to express their interest in student leadership positions for next year, including School Captain, House Captains, and more. Students vote for their preferred candidates. Students seeking School Captain positions are shortlisted and then interviewed by myself and Michael Mottershead (AP), through a formal process.

Student leadership positions are announced during our final assembly at the end of the school year.
