Harmony Week
This year for Harmony Week, students listened to a book by Sandhya Parappukkaran called Words that taste like home. We had discussions about how words and language can bring things like tastes to our minds. Students also talked about the different cultures they brought to our collective culture of being Australian. The activities ranged from Hello flags in different languages to Harmony Day bracelets made out of paper.
Reading
With school holidays almost upon us, our students will be able to borrow an extra book to take home and read. We hope that their downtime during the holidays can include some reading. The benefits of reading are so varied and important - focus, improved wellbeing, empathy, understanding of our world and growing our brains! We have heaps of new titles available to borrow thanks to the support of our Scholastic Book Club.
School holidays are also a good time to look for any books that may be overdue so please talk to your children to see if they may need to have a look at home.
We wish everyone a safe and happy Easter.
