Year 1 Assembly and Incursion with Fr. Andrew

I liked that everyone that was sitting in the Grade One classes was loud when we were singing.

Some people did a reading at the very bottom of the stage and I was one of them. My reading was about Father Andrew and the Pope.

Some people got a principal award and I was included.

I felt excited to do the Assembly, because I could see my mum.

I felt happy because we were singing and I liked the song.

On Monday, all the Year Ones sang the gratitude song at assembly. The whole school was watching us. Some of our parents came too. We felt butterflies in our stomachs because we were nervous but when it was done we felt good

Incursion with Fr. Andrew

On Wednesday, the Year One students visited Father Andrew in the church to learn all about Baptism. Father Andrew showed us the symbols of Baptism, including the Baptism Font, and Chrism Oil. We also learned about other special things in the church, like the Altar and Paschal Candle. During Term One, we will continue to learn about the sacrament of Baptism and how we are all special in the eyes of God.

Ava.C - Father Andrew showed us bottles of oil. One smelled like perfume and one didn’t smell of anything.

Edwin - Father Andrew told us how to use the holy water. 

Aiden - You put the holy water on your forehead.

Ava.S - When Father Andrew was pouring the water he said, “In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit’. 

Luis - Father Andrew does this to bless the babies at their baptism.

Isabel - Father Andrew showed us different things in the church one of them was a baptismal candle with the year on it.

Michaela - On Wednesday, Father Andrew explained Baptism to our class. He showed us the oil, the Holy water, the candle and the Baptismal font. -Shevin and Leo

Tiana - On Wednesday, we walked quietly into the church. Father Andrew showed us the big candle and the Baptismal font.
