International Women's Day 2025

All kinds of celebrations for International Women's Day at Northcote High School.

This year, we proudly celebrated International Women’s Day with a series of meaningful activities that highlighted the voices and stories of women in our community.

One of the standout moments was our participation in a video led by Kat Theophanous, Member for Northcote. In the video, our students asked women a powerful question: "What’s one small change we can do now to improve gender equality?" The responses were thought-provoking and sparked important conversations among students and staff.

Student features in the International Women's Day message from Kat Theophanous.

Celebrations organised by our International Student Leaders

Our international student leaders prepared thoughtful goodie bags with handwritten notes and chocolates, while others created a beautiful display celebrating women and their achievements.

A huge thank you to our wonderful captains for their amazing efforts in organizing the activities for International Women’s Day.

We appreciate all their dedication that went into making this celebration so special!

"Who is a woman that inspires you?"

Our school captains also invited the school community to answer, "Who is a woman that inspires you?" The heartfelt responses were displayed proudly in the main building, showcasing a diverse range of role models from family members to historical figures.

This celebration was a wonderful reminder of the strength and resilience of women around the world and the importance of striving for equality every day.

- From all of us in the student leadership group, we wish our community a happy International Women’s Day.

Film screening of Daria with the Human Rights Club

On Thursday 13th March the Human Rights Club hosted a film screening with popcorn to mark International Women’s Day. This month the club has had a focus on issues affecting women and girls. Episodes of the animation series Daria were screened to a wide audience. Daria is a feminist, a sarcastic teenager and an original droll.

The Human Rights Club will be hosting future events so stay tuned.
