Grade 5 Naish
What a busy but wonderful start we have made to 2025 in Grade 5. All students have settled into the many changes that have occurred with great maturity and a positive attitude. I am very much looking forward to a great year of learning and personal growth for all.
The introduction of using Ochre to drive our learning in the areas of literacy and maths has been a considerably change for all students, but one that everyone has embraced. In literacy we have been reading a text titled ‘War Horse’ which we have used as a stimulus to write a narrative text, as well as develop our knowledge of constructing complex sentences through the use of a subordinating conjunction.
In our maths, we have spent time working through units relating to data distribution as well as understanding factors and multiples. We are currently working through a multiplication and division unit.
Throughout the term we have been working through two different RE units. We started the year with a unit titled ‘People of Prayer’ where students studied and created different types of prayers. With the recent change of the Church season, we are now working through a unit called ‘How Can Lent Transform Our Lives’. In this unit students will explore relevant scripture relating to the season of Lent and develop an understanding of the importance of Jesus in our lives.
While it now feels like a long time ago, camp was a great experience for all students. We were very lucky and grateful to be looked after so well by the people from Doxa and visit many interesting places in Melbourne. The behaviour of all students was exceptional which made the camp even more enjoyable for everyone.
If at any time you have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in contact with me either through email or ClassDojo. Again, I am very much looking forward to a wonderful year of learning and thank you for your ongoing support.
