It's NAPLAN week for our Grade 3s, starting on Wednesday! We ask parents to please make extra sure children are getting lots of good sleep and keeping in calming routines, as we want everyone to be performing their best, staying as calm and focused as possible (in the green zone!)Â đ Teachers will be working to ensure everyone feels confident and comfortable and can do their best!
NAPLAN practise tests are available and can be accessed via the link below. Teachers will be accessing the links in class time also. Grade 3 NAPLAN practise Tests at ADS (assessform.edu.au)Â
Harmony Day is being celebrated at Ballan Primary next week, on Friday the 21st. Students are invited to wear orange. Junior School Council representatives and teachers have been provided with posters and activities to teach about and celebrate this important day. This is not a fundraiser. Families are invited to send information or artefacts (physical or digital) so that students can share about their cultural heritage.

Physical Education
Due to our School Sports being postponed, our focus in Physical Education has shifted from athletics training to indoor soccer. This has involved explicit instruction and practice on the skills of passing, dribbling, shooting and general ball control. Juniors have played "Numbers Shooting" while Middle/Seniors have played short games of indoor soccer in the gym. I have also begun conducting trials for Division Cross Country for students aged 9yrs and above. Hopefully, these will be finished within the next week. Selected students will compete at Ballarat High School on the 9th of May.

This coming Sunday (March 16th) is the Ballan Autumn Festival, and we invite all our students and families to join us in the parade down the main street. Our theme is âSuperheroesâ; students can dress up as their favourite superhero character or a community superhero (firey, police, S.E.S., medical personnel etc). It would be wonderful to see as many families as possible join us in the parade this year, it is always a lot of fun and well-received by our community. The parade will start at 10.30 a.m. sharp, please meet Mrs. Spencer and the teachers at 10 a.m. (time to put everyone in order etc.) on the verge, at the intersection of Stead and Stiglitz Streets, (outside the councilâs building - fishbowl). The parade always starts on time so being early will make sure your child doesnât miss out. Students in Grades Prep to 3 need to be accompanied by an adult please, as it is impossible for us to have our eyes on everyone, in this setting. We would love to see strong representation from the older classes too. Questions: contact Melissa Spencer at Melissa.Spencer@education.vic.gov.auÂ
