Mr. Carlyle's Message

Hello Families and welcome to this week's newsletter.

The term is flying along and summer is holding on for as long as it can before the leaves start to turn and Ballan comes into its own.

Sports Day Postponement

We have had more issues this year with rabbits, cockatoos, and lack of rain than this time last year.  So we decided that the oval was not suitable to run a whole school athletics event on.   This postponement has meant that Llanberris Athletics Reserve has become available for use in term 2.   This is particularly fortuitous as this is where the next level of regional and district athletics takes place, and gives our students a chance to familiarise themselves with the track and field setup.

We will have more information for families as we get closer to the event, however, I can outline that the event being held at Llanberris next term will only be for students in Grades 3-6. With a junior sports day still taking place at the school on a date to be advised later in the year.

Ballan Autumn Festival

This coming Sunday (March 16th) is the Ballan Autumn Festival, and we invite all our students and families to join us in the parade down the main street. Our theme is ‘Superheroes’; students can dress up as their favourite superhero character or a community superhero (firey, police, S.E.S., medical personnel etc). It would be wonderful to see as many families as possible join us in the parade this year, it is always a lot of fun and well-received by our community. The parade will start at 10.30 a.m. sharp, please meet Mrs. Spencer and the teachers at 10 a.m. (time to put everyone in order etc.) on the verge, at the intersection of Stead and Stiglitz Streets, (outside the council’s building - fishbowl). The parade always starts on time so being early will make sure your child doesn’t miss out. Students in Grades Prep to 3 need to be accompanied by an adult please, as it is impossible for us to have our eyes on everyone, in this setting. We would love to see strong representation from the older classes too.
