NAPLAN 

This week, our Year 3 and 5 children are participating in the annual NAPLAN testing, along with every child in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 across Australia. 

We are proud of all of our children for doing their best during the testing period and are proud of their efforts. We thank our teachers for creating a learning culture that values mistakes as learning opportunities and that has shared with children the regular message that these tests help us know how we can help them in their learning and that otherwise they are primarily for our government to track learning across the whole country.  

As a community, we know that NAPLAN tests only a narrow range of skills and knowledge and only measures this in one very specific context. Our teachers’ regular assessment through learning experiences in class remain the most effective measure of your child’s success. If you have any questions about your child’s learning, I encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher.
