Their progress in recognising letter sounds and segmenting and blending new words has been truly amazing! It’s wonderful to see their confidence grow as they apply these skills in reading and writing. Beyond academics, their commitment to displaying our school values and following classroom expectations has been outstanding. They continue to show Respect, Kindness, Care and Personal Best every day. We are excited for another fantastic term of learning and discovery!
Curriculum News
English
In Term 2, students will be diving into exciting new learning experiences! Through our Core Knowledge Units, they will explore the themes of "All About Me" and Indigenous Australian Culture, fostering a deeper understanding of themselves and the rich history and traditions of Australia's First Nations people. In Sounds Write, students will continue building their phonics skills by expanding their knowledge of letter sounds, segmenting and blending words to support early reading and writing. Additionally, our Story Champs program will strengthen their oral language abilities through engaging story retells, helping them develop confidence in storytelling and communication.
Maths
In Maths, students will continue exploring essential mathematical skills through hands-on activities and engaging experiences. They will investigate location, using positional language to describe and follow directions. Through part-part-whole, they will explore how numbers can be broken into parts and combined. A focus on shapes will encourage students to recognise, sort and describe 2D shapes in their environment. Throughout the term, students will engage with numbers up to 20, including counting, ordering, reading, writing, and representing numbers.
Wellbeing
This term, we will continue supporting students in developing their social and emotional skills through our school values of kindness, care, respect, and personal best. Our focus will include building friendships and playing cooperatively, identifying and expressing emotions appropriately, and developing independence in daily routines. Students will also practice mindfulness and self-regulation strategies to support their overall well-being.
