ART - Term 2, 2025
This term in ART, each year level will be exploring unique topics, designed to inspire their imagination and artistic expression. Here's a sneak peek at what students will be learning:
- Foundation students will discover the wonders of collages! They'll experiment with shapes, textures, and colours to create vibrant and meaningful artwork.
- Year 1 students will dive into the animal kingdom and learn how to transform zoo animals into imaginative pieces of art.
- Year 2 students will explore the fascinating world of printmaking using different materials.
- Year 3 students will take a closer look at textiles! They will delve into fabric-based art, exploring techniques like weaving and stitching.
- Year 4 student will be exploring food! Now if you have told your child not to play with food, don’t fret, they won’t be. Students will be exploring how different materials can be used to sculpt food.
- Year 5 and 6 students will be learning about Japanese art. They'll explore traditional and modern Japanese art techniques.
PE & Sport - Term 2, 2025
As we move into Term 2, we are excited to continue developing our students' physical literacy and fundamental movement skills. Foundation-Year 2 students will engage in a variety of interactive circuits and games designed to strengthen their ability to catch, perform two-handed strikes, and develop both overarm and underarm throws. These activities aim to enhance their coordination, balance, and agility while providing a fun environment for learning. Year 3-6 students will focus on developing their throw and catch and forehand strike skills. These fundamental movement skills will be practiced through activities relating to volleyball and tennis. students will gain confidence and improve coordination whilst enhancing their game sense, learning key strategies and teamwork skills through modified games.
STEM - Term 2, 2025
In STEM this term, our students are embarking on exciting journeys across science and discovery! Here is a sneak peak of what they will be learning:
- Foundation students will explore the weather, learning about sunny skies, rainy days, and stormy nights.
- Year 1 students will dive into the importance of recycling and how it helps protect our planet.
- Year 2 students will uncover the mystery of day and night, exploring the relationship between the Sun, Earth and Moon.
- Year 3 students will dig deep into the secrets of rocks and soil, uncovering the earth's hidden treasures.
- Year 4 students will investigate the wonders of the water cycle, tracing how water travels through our world.
- Year 5 and 6 students will blast off into the solar system. They will develop their understanding of the importance of the Earth’s orbit around the Sun and learn about the planets in our solar system.
Wellbeing - Term 2, 2025
This term in Wellbeing, students will be exploring several social-emotional skills to support their development. We'll be introducing the Zones of Regulation, a helpful framework that teaches children to identify their emotions using four colour-coded zones and develop strategies to manage these feelings effectively. We will also focus on the Turrun Primary School’s value of kindness, by exploring how small acts of consideration can create a positive school community and build stronger friendships. Additionally, through our Respectful Relationships curriculum, students will learn valuable positive coping strategies and stress management techniques. Students will learn to identify and discuss different types of coping strategies as well as develop strategies that will help them to deal with stress effectively. These skills will help the students build resilience and emotional well-being that will benefit them both at school and at home.
