Student Empowerment

On 4th March, our School Captains and Vice Captains had the opportunity to attend the Grip Leadership Conference, an inspiring event designed to help students develop essential leadership skills. We caught the train bright and early at 7:30 am, eager to learn new ideas and techniques to bring back to our school community.

The conference was packed with valuable insights on leadership, emphasising how to be effective leaders while staying true to our values of kindness and friendship. We learned the importance of being approachable, leading with empathy, and supporting others in a way that fosters positive relationships.

Not only was the conference informative, but it was also a lot of fun! We had the chance to interact with students from different schools, exchanging ideas and gaining fresh perspectives. The connections made throughout the day were just as meaningful as the lessons learned.

We're returning to school with new tools and strategies to help us lead in a way that is both strong and compassionate. We can't wait to share what we've learned and implement these new ideas to make our school an even better place for everyone.

In recent weeks, our Year 5 and 6 students have been diving into an important topic: emotions and the concept of emotional rollercoasters. Through engaging lessons, students have explored how emotions can change rapidly, just like the ups and downs of a rollercoaster ride. This has given them valuable tools to better understand their own feelings and the emotions of others.

Students have been learning about the wide range of emotions we experience every day and how to manage them in a healthy way. They've discussed how different situations can trigger different feelings and how we can handle those emotions with resilience and self-awareness.

As part of their learning, Year 5 and 6 students created their own work samples, showcasing their understanding of emotional ups and downs. From personal reflections to creative representations of emotional journeys, their work truly highlights how deeply they've connected with the topic.

We are incredibly proud of the thoughtful and creative work our students have produced and look forward to seeing how they continue to grow in their emotional intelligence. This learning not only helps them understand their feelings better but also equips them with skills to navigate challenges and support others in their emotional journeys.
