Kitchen Garden Update
I would like to express a warm and wonderful welcome back to our Chatham Community!
Our garden continued to grow and flourish over our summer holidays and has once again provided an abundance of glorious produce. I am always amazed by the magic of our garden and how quickly things blossom! We will soon start our Kitchen Garden Program for 2025, with the students in Year 3/4 exploring the wonders of growing fruit and vegetables, and cooking with the produce.
Over the last year, we have witnessed the full life cycle of some of our plants, from seeds thriving to seedlings, and then finally to fully grown plants. This year, we will explore in more depth where our food comes from, making more connections with our lives and how simply we can create pleasurable recipes for all to enjoy.
Thank you to the families who took great care of our Chatham Chickens over the summer holidays and a special thank you to Alice Evans (Zara Heath’s mum) for coordinating our volunteer families. Our chickens were laying daily, which was a nice reward for all their hard work!
Now that we have returned to school, there are opportunities for families to assist with weekend care. You can simply sign-up following the below link: https://signup.com/go/OpsVkkU
We welcome all volunteers to assist with any of our garden and/or cooking lessons. If you are interested in any aspect of our program, you can email me at:
