Foundation students have finished up their learning about the behaviour of water, having participated in investigations on floating and sinking, inspired by Pamela Allen’s book Who Sank the Boat, and replicating Mr Archimedes’ Bath, also by Pamela Allen.

In our very last lesson, students were challenged to create something Christmassy out of Lego. Here are some of the results! A sleigh, gingerbread man, snowy scene, and Christmas tree.

Grade 1 and grade 2 students have learned that engineers use technical drawings to communicate their design idea. They have designed toys that can be pushed, pulled, or twisted, creating a technical drawing as part of their learning task, which will be available to view on Compass soon. Using reclaimed materials, students build their design and test it.

Grade 3/4 & 4/5 students have completed their unit on living things, especially around how living things interact with each other. Students have been very engaged in learning about food webs. They have completed their learning task on food webs, which is now available to view on Compass.

Grade 5/6 students have completed their design technology unit of food and fibre production. Their learning task required them to create a digital flowchart that sequenced a product from the farm to retail and is now available to view on Compass. Students finished up their learning by testing their knowledge on an urban farm, competing against their classmates to see who would yield the most successful crops.

Students enjoy checking on our class pets, who have gotten very big!
