Then The Storm Came…..By 4JS

4JS all shared their experiences of the amazing storm that passed through Geelong on Sunday night. They wrote using the senses, creating the moment the storm hit with figurative and descriptive language. This writing is a simple snapshot, written in a given time limit of just 10 minutes.

The rain gushed through our street whipping and thrashing down to the rock sold earth who was trying to stay alive. Then the storm came. It was pelting down. The gumball-like hail was bouncing on the ground and thundering like bullets shooting fiercely. The lightning cracked down until you could hear crackling, pounding thunder. Every now and then we’d run outside but quickly come back in. You could see dark black clouds as streaks of bacon-like lightning came bashing down. Your could feel the cold breeze walking on your skin as you stepped outside. We were all scared until the storm went even harder, and trees were falling. We were safe inside.

I was relaxing eating food at a pub with Noah but then the storm came. I saw ice pelting down like they had been hit by a professional baseball player. The rain shook the ground and made it rumble like a volcano. I could almost taste the rain as it came down like rocks. The gutters were shaking as swift smooth rainwater pushed through them. Everything looked like it was swaying with the wind. It almost looked like the bar was going to flood. Then the storm finished.

I rushed inside after being at the beach. I went on screens for about 5 minutes and then had some dinner. ‘Ding!’ – My Dad’s phone rang, some company alerted us that a hail storm was coming. A few minutes later… Then the storm came. Whoosh! My trees swept aside as if the king was about to walk down the pathway. Bang! Thunder struck. ‘Oh no!’ I raced up to my room. A fence blew down, oh no! And a tree got struck and took down another fence.

The clouds started to get darker as time passed. Then the storm came. Golfball sized rain smacked the ground angrily. Hail followed along, making its way to ground then smashing into pieces! The booming thunder sounded like bullets shooting across the dark gloomy sky. The lightning flashed past, blinding me. It looked like fireworks! I could smell the warm steamy air.

I was on the couch peacefully reading when I heard this “rumble, rumble, RUMBLE!” Then I quickly looked outside, and all I could see was rain and lightning and dark grey clouds. The wind was thrashing against the trees as if they were fighting! Then it just got worse. Hail started crashing down like bullets from the sky!
