PRINCIPAL UPDATE

We have had a great start to the school year, with students and staff settling quickly and actively engaging in the Learning to Learn activities and getting to know each other, learning styles, and interests.

We have the ‘Meet and Greet’ evening on Wednesday and ask that if you require 10 minutes with your child’s teacher discussing learning, engagement or wellbeing needs ensure you book via the Compass portal.  Bookings close 4pm today.

All specialist staff will be located in the Art Room.  You are welcome to pop in and connect with the team and discuss anything relevant to your child’s learning.

There is no need to make an appointment with a staff member if you are already acquainted through previous years of teaching members of your family, unless there is something specific you would like to discuss.

The Chilwell Fair is less than 6 weeks away, and there is a lot of work taking place currently in preparation of the event.  In the coming weeks we will be sending communication out in regards to what parents can do to support the event.

We are currently just finalising sponsors ande beginning to promote them from this week.

Can I please remind all families as per the Pets in School Policy (located on Chilwell website) that dogs are not to be brought into the school grounds. There are multiple students with a genuine fear of dogs, and we need to ensure they are feeling safe entering the school grounds each morning and not commencing the day feeling anxious.

Can we also ask that families that are assisting us with this and tying dogs up at a fence upon entry do so please, away from gates to allow students entry without navigating an excited puppy.

Willow, my dog, comes to school most Monday and Friday mornings to spend time in the classrooms, meet with specific students and engage in supervised activity.  She is known to all students in Grade 1 to 6, will be introduced to Prep in the coming weeks and is on a lead at all times. I am aware of students that have individual needs or concerns with dogs, and Willow does not engage with these students. Thanks so much for your understanding with this.

It was wonderful to see families at the Bush Dance on Friday afternoon. A lovely afternoon enjoyed by so many, and we welcomed many new families to the school.

Have a great week all.

Kind regards,

Meg
