VET News

Rachael Philp - VET Administrator

We are currently just over the halfway mark of the VET year.

Students will receive their end of semester one reports in the mail over the coming few weeks.

At the beginning of term 3 we will be starting the 2025 VET Enrolment Process.

Students will be bringing their Expression of Interest forms home in the first week of term. Once these are returned to the VET office, students will be given the enrolment forms that are specific to the Host School and course that they wish to be enrolled into for 2025.

This process is for students enrolling into the first year of a course but also for students wanting to complete the second year of a course that they are currently doing.

Both of these forms will have deadline dates assigned to them, and enrolments will be confirmed on a first in first served basis. It is extremely important for all students to return their forms to the VET office in a timely manner to secure a place in a VET course of their choice in 2025.

Each course offered has only a certain number of students that can enroll and once they are full, they are full.

For students who are not sure what VET course they would like to be enrolled into in 2025, please make a time to pop into the VET office for a chat or talk to your classroom teachers so that we all can make sure that you have a VET course that you really want to attend.

The 2025 Northern Metropolitan VET Cluster Student Handbook will be available for students to borrow and take home to look at the courses that are available from the first week of next term.  Alternatively, the 2025 Handbook can be viewed online using the following QR code or this link:   https://nmvc.vic.edu.au/nmvc-vet-handbook/

There are a few new courses that students may be interested in that are different to courses offered in the past. We will be offering Certificate II in Apparel, Fashion and Textiles from next year as a one year course. We are also bringing back the very popular Retail Cosmetics course as a one year option, Beauty Services can be chosen as either a fast tracked one year course or completed over two years as can our Cookery course. The other courses that we offer on site at Peter Lalor College are: Business, Community Services, Creative Industries, Health Services Assistance, Sport, Aquatics and Recreation and Salon Assistant.

If you would like any information with regards to VET, please contact me at:  vet@peterlalor.vic.edu.au

The 2025 Handbook will also feature a student profile from one of our year 12 students who graduated in 2023 who completed his Certificate II in Kitchen Operations (now called Cookery) with us. He talks about his passion, his journey and the opportunities and pathway that completing a VET course has given to him. (copy of the profile is below)

A current Creative Industries VET student also has a student profile in the 2025 Handbook. He talks about his experience in this Peter Lalor course this year and what his future career pathway looks like. (copy of this student profile is below
