ComputeFest

University of Melbourne

We are hosting one of our biggest events for high school students, ComputeFest 2024, where we strive to diversify our community by bringing together young people with an interest and passion in technology. 

 

ComputeFest will feature a panel of industry leaders and students from Commonwealth Bank, Atlassian, and Airwallex, followed by a hands-on beginner-friendly workshop teaching the programming language Python. 

 

The event is entirely FREE and lunch will be provided.

 

We hope to see your students there!

 

Here are some simple information to help you understand the event:

 

Who: Year 10 -12 students 

When: In about two weeks, Saturday 29th June from 11am to 5pm

Where: Free in-person event at the University of Melbourne

Why: We believe this event will benefit your students when deciding what they want to do in the future with their studies and careers by participating in coding workshops and networking with industry leaders and students from Commonwealth Bank, Atlassian, Airwallex etc. 

 

This event does not require teacher supervision, and lunch will be provided.

Hands-on Workshop: An introduction to coding 

  • Workshop 1 - Beginner

*Students with a prior coding background are encouraged to attend the Intermediate Workshop, but can choose to join the Beginner Workshop if they find the content to be difficult.

 

Key Dates:

  • Friday 28th of June, 11:55pm - last day for students to register
  • Saturday 29th of June, 11am-5pm - Computefest 2024 will be held in-person at the University of Melbourne. We also ask that students bring their own device (laptop) in order to complete the workshop exercises. Students who register via Humanitix Ticketing platform will receive a student information pack a week before with the location, agenda, and other workshop information.
