Supporter's Apparel

Supporter's Apparel will be for sale, at Oxford Falls, from this Saturday 25 May.  We have Pius branded winter jackets, sleeveless puffas in stock immediately, with polos, pink caps, navy caps, beanies, scarves, zipper hoodies and quarter zip light weight pullovers to follow in early June.

Items will be displayed near the Falls Room Canteen and the Basketball Canteen when it is open.  We have limited stock in the initial run of these products so I would encourage supporters to get in early to avoid disappointment.

NB. Supporter’s apparel is not for student use.

Photos of each item can be seen below, along with pricing for each item.

In conjuction with the P&F, the College has made every effort to keep prices to a minimum and we look forward to seeing as many supporters as possible, across the cocurricular programs, adopt the new range of attire.

CSDA Debating

Debating continues this week against Oakhill College.

The CSDA Debating Competition runs through Term 2 on the following evenings, at these locations:

Rundown of Round 3 (17/05/2024):

•           Supper 3:20 pm - 3:30 pm

•           Travel via coach at 3:30 pm

•           Coin toss will be at 5:00 pm

•           A 6:00 pm debate start and

•           Approximately 7:30 pm finish

Parents/guardians/carers are encouraged to be spectators of these debates, otherwise students will be ready for pick up approximately 1-1.5 hours after the debates commence.

All team members must attend every debate, and should a student not be able to attend a debate, whether they are a speaker or not, the parent/guardian/carer must inform the coach ahead of the debate about this student’s absence.

It is essential that debating students meet at the clock after our Sports Assembly every Friday, attend all training and the first six rounds. If your team makes it through to the Elimination round (and beyond) you also need to keep the above dates free.

Football

Another mostly successful weekend which hopefully gives us confidence going into a tough weekend away against St Patrick’s College Strathfield.  There were goals galore with Year 9 superstar, Rafael Gomez De Membrillera Perez scoring 4 goals for the 1st XI, ably supported by hat-tricks from Captain Michael Whitehead and Vice Captain Reef Farias, along with Alex Baldock of the 16A’s also chiming in with 3 goals in his game.

This weekend most games are away and venues can be found at the following locations:

Walsh: 1 Dreadnought Rd, Oxford Falls

SPC 2 & 3: Francis St, Strathfield

Mason Park: Underwood Rd, Homebush

Bark Huts Reserve: 23 Elliott St, Belfield

Uniform: Every SPX Player MUST have the correct playing strip including socks, no mufti gear to and from the venue or during games is allowed.

Please see the link below to access the upcoming Holiday football camp, a great opportunity for players to maintain their skills and fitness, please note that there is an early bird special for the first 50 players signing up for the 4 day camp.

Bus transport to and from is available with details provided in link prior to registration.

Age : 9 - 16

Each day will include Coerver® SKILLS competitions and challenges, Ball Mastery, Coaching sessions focusing on developing effective use of skill, small sided Coerver® Games, and mini Coerver Cup Tournament to keep players active.

TECHNIQUE

The cornerstone of our curriculum is technical development. We utilize the Coerver® Method of ball mastery and graduated pressure to build technical competence and play carefully selected games to build functional success.

PLAYER CONFIDENCE

We foster creativity by providing the players technical building blocks & encouraging creative actions in developmentally appropriate games. Our games are designed to be fun, challenging and to reward success and risk-taking.

TEAMWORK

Small group tactics and principles of play are taught in attack and defence by utilizing the structure of the many small sided games, which have made the Coerver® Curriculum so unique and recognised as the world’s leading technical football program.

SPORTSMANSHIP

We value winning but not more than character and effort. We encourage paying respect to players, parents, coaches and referees. Sportsmanship is emphasized to develop the whole person and not just the player.

With 2, 3 and 4 day options available, this is the perfect pre and early season preparation for St Pius X students looking towards a successful season. It is also a huge amount of footballing fun!

Tennis

We were thrilled to have the opportunity to play Tennis last weekend and were grateful for the clear weather that allowed our games to take place.

Divisions 1 to 10 had matches against Redlands, while our development squad, led by Old Boy Thomas Wong, continued to work on their Tennis skills. While we may not have won against Redlands, it was heartening to see our students display good sportsmanship throughout the games.

A special mention goes out to Division 4 and Division 9, whose matches were incredibly close - with sets even and games lost by only a few points. It was truly a thrilling experience to watch such intense games.

Next week, our students will be facing off against St Patrick’s College. Please take note of the following fixtures:

- Divisions 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 will be at Strathfield Sports Club.

- Divisions 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 will be playing at Talus St.

- Development Blue & Gold will be playing at St Pius X, Oxford Falls campus.

We are looking forward to another exciting round of matches and appreciate your continued support.
