Year 7 

 

Year 7 Excursions to Narana Aboriginal Cultural Centre

 

An excursion to the Narana Aboriginal Cultural Centre has been scheduled for each of our  Year 7 classes this term. The excursion provides an introduction to Aboriginal culture and relates to the Year 7 study of ancient cultures in the History unit in Term 2.

 The cultural session at Narana includes:

  • a description of Aboriginal history and way of living
  • tools and weapons presentation
  • boomerang throwing
  • an explanation of bush food and medicines
  • feeding the kangaroos and emus

7C, 7D, 7E and 7I students have already had their excursions to Narana and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. The presenter, Aunty Kerry, stated that she was tremendously impressed by their enthusiasm and active participation throughout the two-hour session. Each group was presented with a didgeridoo to take back to school as a memento of their time at Narana.


Year 9

 

On Friday 17th May Mr Parker’s Year 9 OE class used WHC trangias to cook meals that may be used in the future on overnight hikes. The students were fantastic and even displayed some quality cleaning skills after. This has been a great way for students to build their camp skills knowledge and skills base’
