3/4 News

Dim Sim Day

A big thank you to our P&F team who were very organised and ensured our 3/4's were able to eat their dim sims before heading off to Echuca College. We really appreciate you being so accommodating! The students were VERY happy!

Echuca College STEM Visit

We visited Echuca College's STEM area during Education Week. Students learnt about electricity, conductors and insulators. Using the Makey Makey packs, we all had fun making circuits to create game controllers and a piano.

Butterfly Release

It finally came time to release the beautiful butterfly that emerged from one of our chrysalis'.

Students also completed some butterfly artwork:

Writing

Ahead of reading this years chosen book 'Bowerbird Blue' for National Simultaneous Story time, 3/4's were inspired by the research the 5/6's were completing on Bowerbird's, so we decided to complete our own research. Students organised their facts into a mini non-fiction book.

We also watched the Bowerbird which was living in the author's garden and inspired her to write the book. It is fascinating to watch!

Reconciliation Week

Sorry Day/National Reconciliation Week Display

This week we have had many discussions around 'Sorry Day', the history of the Indigenous culture, what 'reconciliation' means and its importance moving forward.

Here is video of the book 'Sorry Day' being read by Indigenous man, Trevor Jamieson, along with Kevin Rudd speaking about the history and importance of Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week.

'Deadly Science' Virtual Incursion

On Wednesday the 29th of May, 3/4's students took part in a virtual incursion as part of Reconciliation Week. The original session titled ‘Country’ was unfortunately changed as Boon Wurrung and Wamba Wamba Elder, Aunty Fay Muir and Sue Lawson were unfortunately unwell.

We were lucky enough to instead have the opportunity to listen to Corey Tutt! Author of The First Scientists and This Book Thinks Ya Deadly! Corey read with us from his books and answered students questions. It was amazing to hear how the Indigenous culture use the land to navigate, create medicines, make tools and survive.

Music Lessons

We love that our students are enjoying their music lessons. In 3/4A we were lucky enough to have Alby play us a couple of tunes before home time.

Coming up...
