Message from Liz

Dear families and supporters

I am pleased to announce that we have successfully finalised our insurance claim and completed the restoration of our building following the flood. I would like to express my gratitude for your patience and support throughout the past 19 months. Together, we have worked diligently to rebuild and improve, with the goal of ensuring a secure future.

I would like to formally notify you that I will be taking a leave of absence from Monday, June 10th, and will return on Monday, June 24th. During my time away, Jessica Carmichael will be assuming leadership responsibilities at St. Joseph's. Please direct any messages or concerns to the office during this period.

School Saving Bonus

You may have seen the measures announced earlier last week by the Allan Labor Government in the 2024-25 State budget.

A $400 School Saving Bonus was announced for all Government school students. However, only Health Care Card holders will be eligible for the payment in Catholic schools.

As we all know, families are feeling cost of living pressures and for Catholic school families to be discriminated against in this manner is deeply unfair.

I’m sure you would agree that there should be equality for all school children in Victoria. Either the payment should apply to all students, or it should be means tested for all students, as has been the case with programs like the Camps, Sports, and Excursions Fund.

I would respectfully ask that you reach out to our local member of parliament (Peter Walsh) to express our concerns that our St Joseph’s families will miss out on this $400 School Savings Bonus. Peter’s email is peter.walsh@parliament.vic.gov.au. I have drafted a template, attached it below and emailed it to you, for you to use if you wish.

Thank you for ensuring we respond strongly. It is important for students, families and Catholic schools that we make our voices heard regarding this unfair decision.

Cross Country

Congratulations to the children that represented St Joseph's at the Campaspe Cross Country event on Friday 17th May.

We were thrilled with your determination to complete the course and the positive manner that you represented our school.

We wish Darcie Acocks and Harrison Pangrazio all the best as they compete in the Region event in St Arnaud on Tuesday 28th May.

Recent Fundraisers

We would like to express our gratitude to all the families and supporters who have generously contributed to our fundraisers throughout the year.

Final dividends for the following events have been sorted and we have raised:

  • Elmore Charity Ball: $25.50 per child
  • Elmore Tractor Pull: $162 per child

A heartfelt thank you to all those who have supported our fundraising efforts. Your contributions will greatly enhance the learning and playing environment at our school.

Take care, stay in touch.
