Art with Nicole & Emily

Class 3/4
Classes have been enjoying paper art, collages, and looking at shapes and colour inspired by Matisse.
This week class 3/4 put final finishes on their Chameleons - layering colours for depth in chalk pastel and then outlining in black oil pastel for definition. In preparation for this activity, students utilised their inquiry skills, researching chameleons before creating their pictures. The students investigated the habitats they live in, their various colours and they can change colour for protection, as well as the textures of their bodies and environment.
Time permitting, once their chameleon was finished, students also had an opportunity to start a collage. Students will learn how to blend paper collage elements into their drawings.
Emily demonstrated cutting out organic shapes using patterned and plain paper and how to create effect, using the same repeated shape and size to create subtle impact. The students spent time folding paper lots of time to create the same sized shape which they could then cut out. Students will follow on with these artworks next term.
Prep-2 have been focusing on colour this term. Today we finished our unit with inspiration from Andy Warhol, Nicole even had the T-shirt on today.
