Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

A reminder to all families that as tomorrow is the last day of term, we will finish at the earlier time of 2.30pm.

Tomorrow is also a dress up day!  For those who would like to join in, the theme is, 'What I might want to be when I grow up?'  The SRC have proposed this as a fun event to celebrate the end of term.  No gold coin donation is required.

Last week, students in Years 5 & 6 learned about the Energy Breakthrough Challenge and how they could be involved.  The challenge will take place in November, and students will participate in regular training, once the teams are determined.  Today, Mr Greenhalgh returned with the car to allow more students to experience the thrill of the ride!  A big thank you to him and the Mount Beauty Secondary College for providing our students with this opportunity.

Next term, on Wednesday 30th April, we will be holding our Cluster Athletics for students in Years 3-6, together with Falls Creek, Tawonga and Dederang Primary Schools.  This event will commence at 9.15am and finish by 2pm. Volunteers are needed to assist with events, so if you can help out, please let the office know or speak with Steph or Dave.

From 2.30pm on the 30th April, Musica Viva will be presenting a special music incursion for all students in Prep - 6 , called Rhythm Works. Through this performance, musical duo, Elijah and Kevin will present a percussion performance to show our students how to create visual images through music.  The performance will reinforce many of the concepts students have been exploring through their music classes and will provide a great way to wind down after a day of athletics!

A Year 7 Information evening will also be held on Wednesday 30th April, from 6pm at the Mount Beauty Secondary College.  Families are encouraged to attend this session and to arrange a time to have a tour of the school, during the first three weeks of next term.  For more information, please see the transition flyer in our community notes or contact the school on 57544005.

During the holidays, OSHC will be running Vacation Care.  For more information about this program and how to get involved, please refer to the OSHC page of this newsletter.

As Term 1 draws to a close, we would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone for your partnership around learning and participation in school activities.  Many thanks also to those individuals who have volunteered their time this term to help out with Breakfast club, share their skills on council, or volunteer their time to assist with sporting events and/or classroom learning programs, such as helping to create maths resources for students to use with their numeracy fluency tasks.
