The Evolution of Challenge-Based Learning

Introducing Global & Digital (G&D): The Evolution of Challenge-Based Learning
As education continues to evolve to meet the needs of a rapidly changing world, RNPS is excited to introduce a refreshed and rebranded approach to learning: Global & Digital (G&D). Formerly known as Challenge-Based Learning (CBL), G&D represents a dynamic shift that enhances students' ability to think critically, engage globally, and leverage digital tools for deeper exploration and collaboration.
What is Global & Digital (G&D)?
G&D is an immersive learning experience that encourages students to explore real-world issues through inquiry, innovation, and collaboration. This approach is designed to foster critical thinking, open-mindedness, and meaningful connections—both locally and globally—while actively addressing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Key Elements of G&D:
Connection to Year-Level Book Studies: G&D integrates year level novel studies to deepen understanding and provide context for learning, linking narratives to real-world global challenges.
Critical Thinking & Open-Mindedness: Students will engage in thoughtful analysis, problem-solving, and creative thinking while considering diverse perspectives.
Real-World Exploration Aligned with SDGs: Learning extends beyond the classroom as students investigate and address authentic challenges, directly connecting their projects to SDG themes such as climate action, quality education, sustainable cities, and social justice.
Digital Technology Integration: From research to presentation, students will utilize digital tools to enhance their learning, communication, and problem-solving skills while exploring solutions that align with SDG targets.
Collaboration & Communication: Working together across disciplines and communities, students will develop essential teamwork and communication skills, preparing them for future academic and career success while fostering international connections in pursuit of global solutions.
Through G&D, students will gain a broader perspective, deeper learning experiences, and stronger connections—empowering them to become active contributors to their communities and the world.
