Term 1 - The Community Term
Once again, we find ourselves at the end of a hectic, breakneck-speed term that has had so much in it that I found myself confusing this term for an entire year.
On Wednesday April 2nd, we had such a fantastic Community Day that saw so many parents, grandparents and special friends coming through the school to support our students and form even more connections.
Of course, the Colour Splash is such a wonderful event to wrap up the day but we had wonderful sessions with special visitors in the classroom and a lovely shared lunch with staff and parents, too.
One of the things I noticed this year during the Colour Splash was the strong bonds so many of our students have formed with their buddies. It's around 4 years now since we introduced the model where every student has a buddy throughout their schooling (and Preps have 2) and I think this year was the strongest bond I have witnessed between students right across the school. The care, encouragement and support so many of our older students gave their younger buddies was an absolute joy to witness.
Thank you so much to the input of parents leading up to the day and then on the day itself. There were so many helpers who contributed in the planning, bottle filling, volunteer-mustering, course setup and more. An extra special big thank you to Sally Westra (for the PFA) who collaborated with Mr Trend to plan the event and sacrificed a lot of her personal time along with many others to make it the wonderful success it has been.
This year the event has raised (to date) $9,740 for learning resources across the school. An enormous effort from the whole community and looking at the names of donors, a big spread of immediate family members as well as grandparents, aunts/uncles, cousins, neighbours and more. A huge thank you to everyone for their support of the school. These funds are now dedicated to helping complete our full update of all literacy resources in the school, a process that has been 5 years in the making. And, due to the generosity of our community, it has allowed for additional maths resources, too.
Take care on the holidays
Many thanks for everyone's contributions through this term. It has been full, busy and massively rewarding. The students have been highly engaged throughout the term and have been exceptional models for RNPS students both within school and outside in the community.
Please enjoy the family time, rest and relaxation over the next 2 weeks. Have a wonderful Easter, and we look forward to seeing everyone back for a fun Term 2.
