Grade 4 News
As we come to the end of the term, it is wonderful to be able to look back and create a mental list as long as our arm of all that the children have achieved during these past weeks.
On top of these achievements, the children have all worked hard to adjust and settle into a new way of doing things in the classroom.
Lent has coloured our past weeks as we explore and reflect on the type of person we are called to be.The students have taken time to pray a little more and think about their choices and decisions and whether these reflect the person they want to be.
Every class will be praying The Stations of the Cross this week. Year Four Saxby has completed this and a wonderful discussion followed in the Chapel.
One child asked what God might look like. I replied that we don’t know and how could we imagine what our creator God might look like, to which Nash said, ‘God is everything.’ What a wise and philosophical comment from such a young mind.
Crazy Hair Day was a blast. It was so good to see so many students with creations that they had designed and put together with what they had at home. We don’t know the final tally on the money raised but we know that it all helps Project Compassion.
We will have The Big Walk for Water this Friday between 10:30 and 11:00am. We are asking students to bring in a gold coin donation so that we can do our part to Unite Against Poverty this Lent.
You might not be aware but there is a competition between the two classes to see which class has the most dairies handed in each Friday, this is then announced at our Unit Assembly each Tuesday. There is nothing to be won except a love of reading and the thrill of a good story.
If your child has been slow to get involved, please encourage them to lift their game. We believe that all students are reading but because we don’t see several regularly, we’re not sure how much reading is happening and what is being read.
The children are able to write what they have read each night into their diary, this does not have to be done by a parent.
Please encourage your child to continue their reading and working on their number patterns and multiples to twelve and beyond during the holidays. It would be a shame for some of the progress that has been made to fall away over the break.
Thank you for your support and encouragement this term.
Wishing you a happy and joyous Easter in a few weeks’ time.
