Foundation had a fantastic start with their Italian learning!
We have been busy learning interesting and fun facts about Italy and Italian culture and thanks to some games we began to get familiar with Italian sounds and words such as colours and numbers.
We talked about emotions and now we know how to say if we are feeling "bene, così così e male” and, as every Italian, we always reply with a hand gesture.
Foundation kids had their first Carnevale party!
Carnevale is an Italian celebration when everybody gets to dress up and for one week you can be whoever you want. It is a week of fun, masks, music, genuine fun, and parades all over Italy!
Foundation students made their own masks and listened few Italian songs while we were playing a Carnevale colours game.
We are now learning few other questions for being able to talk about ourselves, Foundation students are now able to say their name, their age and how they are feeling.
Grade 1 students have been busy on reviewing last year vocabulary such as colours which helped us to talk about emotions.
Thanks to the movie “Inside out” we learnt new Italian vocabulary and compared the Italian movie and the Australian one.

Grade 1 discovered one of the most famous Italian masks: Arlecchino!
We learnt about his story, and they had a worksheet to colour while we were listening few Italian songs and playing a Carnevale colour game.
We are now learning new adjective to describe people, and we had the opportunity to describe our family members to the class.
Grade 1s also used their artistic skills creating some “Super family cards” where they draw their family members and themselves with some magical superpowers.
We are ending the term by doing a little book of “La mia super famiglia” where every child is collecting every super family member cards.

Grade 5 and 6 have been busy on reviewing last year vocabulary with a focus on writing. After last year both Grades 5 and 6 are now ready to focus more on writing and reading in Italian. We worked on emotions using the movie “Inside out” and thinking about what makes us feel each emotion of the first movie.
We started working with more focus on Italian grammar by discovering the present simple of the verb to be .
