SOGS Sustainability Update
Eco Warriors at the International Flower and Garden Show excursion.
On Thursday 27th of March, the Eco Warriors represented SOGS at the International Flower and Garden Show. Students witnessed a vibrant celebration of creativity, nature, and endless blooming possibilities.
They enjoyed speaking to a beekeeper who showed them all about some bee predators and what is being done to help save them. Students enjoyed seeing the garden designs and chatted with a landscape designer - he was given a 10/10 for his design of course. Students potted their own plants and participated in an interactive tree hunt where they explored caring for trees. The highlight of the day seemed to be entering a dark room where plants glowed in the dark with the blue lights and luminous liquid they were drinking.
Egg-cellent tips for a hoppy Easter
The best way to recycle Easter egg foil is to scrunch the foil up into a small fist-sized ball before placing it in the recycling bin. This makes sure the small bits of foil don’t get lost in the recycling process.
You could even make a game of it with your family or friends and see who can make the largest ball!
If you haven’t consumed enough chocolate to make a fist-sized ball of foil, you can place the foil pieces into an aluminium drink can to contain them before placing it in your recycling bin.
Have a wonderful holiday break and please feel free to reach out with any sustainability questions or ideas.
