Harmony Day Assembly
World Autism Awareness Day was April 2nd!
Wednesday April 2nd was World Autism Awareness Day. This global event has been celebrated since 2007 to raise awareness, acceptance and appreciation of autistic people.
At Clovelly Park Primary, we are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported. Our Autism Inclusion Teacher (Alice Wagstaff-McCartan) promotes inclusion and diversity by sharing best practices and resources through the AIT initiative.
To celebrate at Clovelly this year we had a ‘Sparkle Day’ to encourage everyone to feel their most authentic selves!
The poster below shares some respectful ways that we can promote autism awareness, acceptance and appreciation. If you have any questions or would like to chat, you can contact Alice via the front office.
Online Student Forum Participation
Eight of our Year 5/6 students recently participated in an engaging online student forum. This event provided a fantastic opportunity for our students to connect with peers from across the state, with an impressive 161 different schools and participants online simultaneously.
During the forum, our students explored the new Learner Action Cards, engaged in teamwork and leadership activities and learned about the difference between 'learning mode' and 'performance mode', both essential concepts for developing a growth mindset. Here’s what we learned:
Learning Mode:
- Focus: Growth, improvement, acquiring new skills and knowledge, embracing challenges and mistakes.
- Activities: Deliberate practice, exploration, seeking feedback and pushing boundaries.
- Mindset: Growth mindset, willing to make mistakes and learn from failures.
- Goal: To enhance long-term competence.
Performance Mode:
- Focus: Execution, showcasing competence and producing tangible results.
- Activities: Applying expertise, delivering under pressure and fine-tuning.
- Mindset: Fixed mindset, aiming for flawless execution.
- Goal: To create flawless performance.
Looking ahead, the next online student forum is scheduled for Term 4. In the meantime, the students who attended will be examining how they engage in learning mode and performance mode throughout their school activities. This exploration will help deepen their understanding and application of these concepts.
Mother's Day Stall & Raffle
We will be holding a Mother's Day Stall on Wednesday 7th and 8th May for students to purchase gifts for mums and carers. Gifts will range between $2 - $10 each.
There will also be a raffle with great prizes to be won. Tickets will be $2 each, or $5 for 3 tickets, available from Monday 5th May. The raffle will be drawn on Friday 9th May.
Please see Emily Tassone, Governing Council Treasurer/Fundraising Committee for further information if required.
MSP Photo Day for students
Student photos will be taken on Wednesday 30th April. Please ensure your children are in school uniform on this day. Further information about this day will follow soon.
Wakakirri
Does your child love to dance, tell stories, dress up, sing and perform? Then Wakakirri is for them! The Wakakirri Dance Performance rehearsals are about to begin for all students from reception to year 6.
Rehearsals for all troupe members will be held on Wednesday afternoons from 3pm-4pm each week during term 2, starting on Wednesday 30th of April. The final performance will be in Term 3, in the first week of August.
Meeting
A meeting for students interested in participating in Wakakirri was held on Wednesday 2 April during the lunch break in the Performing Arts Space, where relevant notes were distributed. If your child is interested, and hasn't received the note, please contact Mr Tim.
Parent Volunteers needed
We are looking for parent volunteers! If you have the skills to assist with the design and creation of costumes or sets, choreography, help with staging, or general supervision we need you! Even if it is just one or two rehearsals, it will make a huge difference and be a great help.
All volunteers are required to have completed the Volunteer training, RRHAN-EC training and have a current Working with Children Check.
We are excited about creating our 2025 Wakakirri story.

Finance Matters
2025 Materials & Services Charge is due Friday 11th April (last day Term 1)
The 2025 Materials and Services Charge (school fees) are $300 per student.
All South Australian families with children attending public schools will receive a $200 discount per student on their annual materials and services charge, leaving an amount of $100 per student owing. You will not need to do anything to claim the discount as it will automatically be issued by the school. The discount does not apply to school card families as they are not required to pay the materials and services charge.
If you are eligible for school card assistance you are able to complete your application online at: sa.gov.au/education/schoolcard. A new school card application is required at the start each year. Please complete your application promptly.
Fee payment can be made at the school office or over the telephone. For families preferring to enter into a regular direct debit arrangement or for the details to pay via EFT, please contact Cathy on 8276 5366.

Assembly Awards Information
At our school we believe in 'doing the right thing because it is the best thing to do'. Our philosophy is grounded in the "golden rule"—treating others as we would like to be treated. This belief permeates everything we do, from how we interact with others, to how we persist with challenging work and how we manage ourselves when we're not feeling our best.
Students are expected to demonstrate our school values and are taught, given opportunities to practice and receive regular feedback—both corrective and positive—about expected behaviours. Recognising individuals who consistently demonstrate our school values, or who have had a specific notable moment, is important to us.
We will be recognising these students at the final assembly of each term, starting this term on Friday, Week 11 (11th April 2025) at 9:10 am. Specific students will receive an award related to one of our school values: Kindness, Courage, Thoughtfulness, Responsibility, and Inclusivity.
Check out our 'Whole School Behaviour Matrix' attached. It shows what we expect in terms of behaviour and how it connects with our school values.
