What's happening in PE and PMP this term
We are excited for our programs to continue this term with our students experiencing the following units:
Foundation:
PE – Locomotion, Catch and Kick
PMP- Balance, spatial awareness, memory, fine and gross motor skills
Year 1
Locomotion, Overhand Throw, Kick & Punt in isolation and small group settings
Year 2
Locomotion, Overhand Throw, Kick & Punt in Minor Game settings
Year 3
Two Hand Strike, kick & punt in Minor Game settings
Year 4
Footy Codes and intro to Invasion Games
Year 5
Invasion Games application with particular focus on making good decisions with and without the ball to maintain possession and use an effective defensive stance to put pressure on the opposition when they are in possession of the ball.
Year 6
Invasion Games application with particular focus on making good decisions with the ball to work collaboratively to progress the ball up the court/field into a scoring position and use effective defensive strategies to intercept the ball and regain possession.
All year levels will finish the term with an Athletics Unit
Year 5 and 6 Interschool Sport and ASP Sport
Trials for our year 5 and 6 interschool sport and alternative sports programs took place last term. We have selected our squads for each sport and Rockets and Jets team selection will take place this Friday. Our first interschool sport games will be held Friday May 9th!
Our Alternative Sports Program will kick off this week with Taekwondo at MPHPS, Rugby at Mill Park Reserve and Gymnastics at Pit Gymnastics in Mill Park. We can’t wait for the students to embark on these experiences in sport this term.
