Spotlight on Work Experience
The 2025 Workplace Learning Program is Underway!
2025 Workplace Learning has successfully commenced for our Year 11 and 12 students. This program provides students with invaluable opportunities to explore potential career paths, develop essential workplace skills, and gain firsthand insight into life beyond the classroom.
Starting this term, students have begun placements across a wide range of industries, including hospitality, healthcare, retail, trades, education, and more. Each placement is carefully selected to align with students’ individual interests and career aspirations, allowing them to experience what it’s really like to work in their chosen field.
Why Work Experience Matters
Work experience is more than just spending a week or two in a workplace—it’s a chance for students to:
Build confidence by working alongside professionals.
Develop practical skills such as teamwork, communication, and problem-solving.
Enhance their resumes and gain a competitive edge for future job and university applications.
Clarify their career goals by experiencing real-world work environments firsthand.
Sharing the Journey
We love hearing about our students’ work experience. Here is a snapshot of some of our current Year 11 and 12 students actively learning and growing through their placements:
Val is gaining invaluable industry experience during his work placement at Ellia Design. This hands-on experience is helping him build confidence and clarify his career aspirations in the creative industry.
Luke is completing his WPL at Positive Auto Electrics, learning the practical skills of vehicle wiring, diagnostics and repairs. He is deepening his understanding of automotive electrical systems.
Caylee is gaining a firsthand insight into the legal profession during her work experience at the Law Society. After completing her Certificate III in Legal Studies at TAFE last year, she is now applying her knowledge while learning more about the role of law in society and the pathways to a legal career.
James is gaining valuable hands-on experience at ROAR Fitness, where he is learning about fitness, rehabilitation, and movement mechanics. With aspirations of becoming an occupational therapist, he is observing how exercise can improve mobility and overall well-being. This placement is providing him with practical insights into the connection between physical health and rehabilitation.
Jason is gaining real-world experience at local IT Web Wizards specialising in website design. He is learning about coding, user experience, and digital development while working alongside industry professionals. This placement is helping him build essential skills and explore opportunities for creating innovative online platforms.
