Harmony Day

On Wednesday, March 26, St Norbert College came together to celebrate our twelfth annual Harmony Day. This special occasion was a vibrant reminder of the importance of inclusivity, respect, and a sense of belonging for all. It was a day dedicated to embracing the rich cultural diversity that strengthens our community.
Throughout the day, the College hosted a variety of engaging activities. We began with a whole school liturgical service, followed by a multicultural quiz during homeroom, a national costume parade, multicultural music performances, and an International Food Feast. Students also had the opportunity to participate in a Boomerang dot painting workshop, which filled up quickly due to high demand!
A standout feature of the day was the stall run by the Sikh community, where students and staff had the chance to learn about Sikh traditions, cuisine, and musical instruments through Turban Tying and interactive information sessions.
For lunch, staff and students enjoyed a delicious selection of meals from eleven different cuisines, each offering unique and flavorful options.
It was a wonderful celebration of unity, diversity, and the vibrant community we are proud to be a part of.

During Harmony Day it was full of diverse culture everywhere, each and every student who dressed up surprised me with a different cultural costume showcasing their homeland. Everyone around had a beautiful smile on their face, amazed at all the different cultures around, and at the end of the day, it was a great success bringing smiles to everybody's face.

Harmony Day at St Norbert was a really eye-opening experience for me. Even though I’ve always been surrounded by people from different backgrounds, this day helped me appreciate cultural diversity on a deeper level. St Norbert set up a bunch of food stalls and activities that represented cultures from all over the world, and it was amazing to see the whole community come together to celebrate. I got to try new foods, join in on cultural games, and hear personal stories from other students about their heritage. What really stood out was how proud people were to share their culture—it made me reflect on my own as well. Overall, the day made me feel more connected to the people around me and reminded me how important it is to respect and embrace our differences every day.

It was great to see students and staff in their colourful traditional attire. The Harmony Day Liturgy conducted by Fr. John was meaningful, followed by a lively cultural parade. During lunchtime, multicultural music entertained the community, creating a joyful atmosphere. The international food was delicious and added to the celebration.

Harmony Day was amazing! I got to try a delicious Lebanese chicken kebab, and my friends and I had a great time participating in the Sikh turban-tying activity during lunch.

Celebrating Harmony Day gives students, like myself, an opportunity to wear our cultural attire and enjoy eating food from different countries. It takes a lot of effort to organise the International Food Fair for around 900 students so I would like to thank the adults that were responsible for setting it up. It was also nice to see such vibrant and colourful attires at the parade as it isn't every day that you see students with such beautiful outfits. I hope St Norbert continues this tradition forever.

Harmony Day was so much fun! Everyone wore cultural clothes, and we had a Liturgy and a cool multicultural parade. There was music, boomerang painting, turban tying, and heaps of food from around the world. It was great to see how different and special everyone's culture is.
