Language Other Than English
What an exciting and bustling period it has been these past few weeks! Our students, spanning all year levels, have been actively immersed in their journey of learning Vietnamese, exploring a diverse range of engaging topics.
Within the FLC class, students have consolidated the essentials of greetings (hello - xin chào, goodbye- tạm biệt) and expressions of gratitude (thank you - Cảm ơn). Through lively participation in songs and interactive role-plays, they have not only familiarised themselves with the language but also honed their conversational skills. The students in FLC also read a book called ‘The Fabulous Lost & Found and the Little Vietnamese Mouse’, where the Vietnamese mouse was looking for his hat. They even made their own hats too.
Over in the JLC classroom, students have eagerly absorbed vocabulary related to their immediate family members. Students drew family portraits and labelled each member in both Vietnamese and English.
Transitioning to the MLC realm, students have revisited and reinforced their understanding of family-related vocabulary. Through the creation of descriptive sentences, they have portrayed the unique interests and activities of each family member, fostering a deeper connection to the language.
In the SLC group, students have been exploring themselves and expressing who they are. By talking about what they like to do, they've not only improved their language skills but also discovered more about themselves and connected with others. They've written about their hobbies and the people they love doing them with.
In short, these weeks have shown how lively and active the language learning space is. The students have shown great dedication and enthusiasm, improving their skills and embracing Vietnamese language and culture every step of the way.
