Learning In My Level

A celebration of what's happening across the school!

LEVEL 4

On Wednesday the 14th of August, the Year 4 students embarked on their journey to Phillip Island. With a quick stop on the way for a bite to eat, we soon arrived at our Phillip Island Adventure Resort.

After an afternoon filled with fun and challenging activities, the year 4 students, parents and staff were treated to a Talent Show! With a vast range of talents from singing, dancing, acting and magic shows, the audience were entertained. A bedtime story was enjoyed and then it was time to head off to bed for the first night’s sleep (some might argue there wasn’t much of that though).

The second day of camp saw more adrenaline pumping activities, teamwork activities and some wet feet. The canoeing was a hit and we were lucky enough to have a sunny day to help boost the moods of our campers. Amongst canoeing, there was the Low Ropes course which challenged strength and a Growth Mindset, Ponding where we found some tadpoles and Water Boatmen Beetles and cooking some delicious pancakes on the BBQ.

For our second night at camp we had an early dinner and headed off for a short drive to the Penguin Parade. It was a ‘Sold Out’ session and there was excitement all around. We were lucky to have a warmer night (not needing gloves, beanies and thermals as planned) and only a short wait before the first raft of little penguins made their appearance in front of a packed crowd. We loved seeing the little penguins surface from the waves and waddle up the sand to their nesting grounds and burrows. Following the boardwalk back to the buses, we saw so many little penguins, heard their calls and watched them in their natural environment. We also got to see wallabies and Cape Barren geese.

Arriving back to camp with some weary campers, we settled in our pjs, ate ice cream and popcorn and watched a feel good movie ‘Happy Feet’!

Our final day arrived! With a lot more sleep under our belts we were all ready for another day of fun activities! We celebrated two special birthdays while on camp.

We continued our last day with The Giant Swing, Flying Fox, a photo hunt, archery and much, much more! The morning was jam packed and with our bags packed, we were sad to say goodbye to the Adventure Resort, however, the pelican feeding was waiting for us on our way home to Melbourne.

A massive thank you to the Phillip Island Adventure Resort staff and all our wonderful parent volunteers who gave up their time to assit us on camp. Without you, this camp would not have been possible and we truly appreciate your time and support. A huge thank you to the RPS staff for helping give our students the opportunity and experience of a fun filled camp, especially Mrs Anju Meta for all her hard work and planning that went into this camp- your efforts and time are greatly appreciated!
