Today is a great day to be you!

Book Week Celebration Day

What a great day it has been today!

It was wonderful to see so many students and staff get into the spirit and dress up as their favourite book characters. The assembly, parade, celebration of Australian shortlisted books and mixed-age group rotations across the day exploring all sorts of literature were so much fun.

Thank you to all the families out there for supporting your children with their costumes!

TRP Digital Wellbeing Info Night

As previously communicated, unfortunately we had to postpone this event for our community members. We will hopefully be able to inform you of a new date sometime in the next two weeks and we hope that everyone who RSVP'd will still able to attend.

Whitehorse Council School's Committee

Last week I attended the Whitehorse Council School's Committee Meeting, which was hosted by the council and Vic Police. The aim of these meetings is for schools, council and the police to work together to develop connections and support each other wherever needed.

A big talking point from the schools in attendance were the roads directly around school grounds and parking and/or traffic issues. We experience many issues and receive feedback from parents and local residents, and it's an area we are always aiming to improve. Some great news was the council acting on feedback regarding Munro St and Haven Crt with some new 'no parking' signage on its way!

A reminder to all parents and carers to slow down around the school grounds and take extra care on the roads. Please respect the signage and parking rules in our local streets - our neighbours deserve to be able to get in and out of their driveways without restrictions.

Parking inspectors patrol the area regularly and we would have to see our families receive any fines.

Fathers Day Stall

On Friday 30th August, our wonderful Parents & Friends Committee will be running the annual Fathers Day Stall in the Year 5/6 Hub from 9:00-11:00am.

All classes will have the opportunity to pass through and buy a gift (all $5) for their dads or special people in their lives.

Billy Cart and Footy Colours Day

We are now four weeks away from this awesome event! We encourage students to get designing and building - which is half the fun.

In order to take part, students must have parent/carer consent, along with a partner (same year level), helmet, billy cart and team name.

National Child Protection Week

National Child Protection Week is held in the first week of September (from the 1st to the 7th). As always, the overarching message is that ‘Every child in every community needs a fair go’.

The theme for 2024 is 'Every conversation matters'.

Conversations are powerful tools to keep children and young people safe and well.

Conversations can help us understand issues, craft solutions, value community knowledge, and build the brains and social connections of children and young people.

Conversations between… children and their caregivers matter (from the very earliest days)… children and their peers matter… families with teachers, doctors, and other professionals matter… friends or neighbours matter… decision-makers and the communities they serve matter.

And, of course, conversations in the public realm and media matter…

So this National Child Protection Week we invite you to speak up – and speak together – about what needs to change for every child in every community to have a fair go.

This theme provides a platform to:

  • engage in important conversations,
  • promote the value of conversations, and
  • equip us to have conversations that keep kids safe.

Let’s use this theme to explore and talk about the many ways that conversations matter for children, young people and their families.
