Student Expectations

  1. Full school uniform must be worn to school each day. Normal school rules apply.
  2. Any student who misses an examination must arrange a time to catch up during the examination period where possible with their Sub-School.
  3. No speaking is allowed once students have entered the examination room unless they have their hand up and are attended to by a teacher on duty.
  4. Students are not allowed to borrow equipment from other students; they need to be well prepared. Students must bring their own writing equipment, a calculator for Mathematics when required, a dictionary for English and any other material stipulated by the classroom teacher in the revision week.
  5. Students will NOT be allowed to leave the examination room until the end of the examination. If students finish early, they should proofread and edit their work, then wait quietly.
  6. Students are NOT permitted to bring mobile phones and/or any other unauthorised electronic devices into the examination room.
  7. Students will be provided with revision documents and an outline of the examination during the weeks prior to their examination. They are expected to prepare well for their examinations.
  8. All examinations will have a minimum of ten minutes reading time. During this time, students are not to write or mark anything and must use this time to read all the questions and plan their responses.
  9. Students who misbehave during an examination will be asked to leave the room. These students will receive a consequence as determined by their Year Level Coordinator and Head of Year Level.

Staff Expectations – Senior School Examinations

  1. The person on the roster for each room should come to senior school and collect crate/box for their room. Do not take the exam bags out of the crate, take the whole crate. In each crate will be the exams for that room and any extra exams for students who are sitting an exam at this time due to a clash. Also, in the crate is extra paper and additional stationery supplies.
  2. Allow sufficient time to set up the room in preparation for the examination. Lay papers out and mark the class roll on the top of each bag. There will be a note on your bag if a student has sat an exam at a different time.
  3. If swapping over at the end of the period, respect your colleagues by being on time.
  4. Students are NOT permitted to bring mobile phones and/or any other unauthorised electronic devices into the examination room.
  5. When exams are finished, bag them up and return all exams and crates to Senior School. Do not put exams in teachers’ pigeonholes. Teachers can collect completed exams from Senior School.
  6. Toilet breaks need to be treated as per VCAA end-of-year examination rules. The student needs to be escorted to a toilet. Heads of Year Level and Year Level Coordinators will make it clear to the students that toilet breaks are not the norm and should be taken only when necessary.
  7. Supervise actively, move around the room, and ensure there are no unauthorised materials on the student’s desk or in the room. Check for loose pages or notes in dictionaries.
  8. Students who finish early, should proofread and check their responses. There are no early leavers. School policy is that all students stay for the full allocated time.
  9. Complete the 'Supervisor Exam Feedback Report for KLA Leaders' for each exam that you supervise. The information provided in this report will assist KLA Leaders and their teams with important feedback that can be considered to improve the exam paper in the future. Please DO Not include information about individual students in this report.
  10. For breaches in exam rules and protocols, complete the 'Examination Incident Report' and return it to the relevant Head of Year Level.
