Humanities
Term 3 has seen the return of the crowd favourite in the junior school – history! Year 7 students have been learning about historical concepts, and a range of Ancient Civilisations. In Year 8 students have been investigating Medieval Europe and Renaissance Italy. Year 9s are studying history’s transition into the modern world, including the Industrial Revolution, the colonisation of Australia, and the advent of World War 1.
In the senior school history students are looking forward to a visit from Vietnam Veterans in Week 9; thanks to Ms Prosenak for organising this! Students across VCE Humanities, particularly Year 12, are quickly coming to the end of their studies for 2024. There’s been lots of creative work happening, and the windows around L Building are particularly informative, check out the illustration of the guillotine used in Revolutionary France!
At Year 9 students have begun their second lot of electives. World Cultures, our Humanities based elective, is off to a particularly fun start with a visit from Andy McDonald. Andy very generously donated his time (and a spare kilt) and came to talk to students about growing up in Scotland. As in 2023 this is an absolute highlight of the class, and we are very grateful for Andy’s generosity.
