Speedway Racer

Within our newsletter we often celebrate our students for their achievements outside of school.

Axel Robinson is a Year 7 student at Healesville High School who races junior speedway all over Victoria (and most recently in QLD) in his spare time. He has been racing in a Mitsubishi Lancer for just over one year.  In late June, Axel attended the Alexandra Speedway Presentation Night where he came 3rd overall in the New Stars Junior Drivers and Best Presented Team.  He also received an appreciation award as he helps to prepare the track before races.  Axel has completed his Steward Training (which is a volunteer role), which allows him to help the official stewards oversee the races to ensure the safety of all racers.  Whilst he can't steward alone until he's 18, he is on track to be one of the youngest stewards at a national title (currently the youngest is 28).

Axel also won the Junior New Star Ambassador of the year award at the Speedway Sedans Victoria (SSV) Presentation Night. He was chosen for this award from a pool of hundreds of junior drivers across Victoria.  Well done Axel! All the best for your next race.
