Visual Arts Term 3

Absolutely Awesome Art

Grades 1 & 2 have been creating wire figures strongly influenced by sculptural artist Alberto Giacometti. Focusing on balance and proportion, they have endeavoured to elongate a human figure and create a pose that communicates feeling and expression.

Look at our Creative Clay Creatures

While focusing on creating with clay, grade 3&4 students have been developing specific skills to scour, add slip and blend joining areas to attach features. Here are a few of our marvellous pinch-pot monsters for you to enjoy.

This grade 5&6 artwork is inspired by our Indigenous NZ artist Tracey Tawhiao. Her practice employs the unconventional art material of newspaper. We have adopted her focus of symbol and pattern to communicate the plight of our Indigenous Australian Aboriginal people and the stolen generation. This activity has allowed us to dig deep with sensitivity, and acknowledgement of historical cultural events.
