Year 6 Highlight

DBL Parent Immersion - Exploring the World of Work
Our Year 6 students have been exploring the world of work through an engaging Discovery-Based Learning (DBL) experience. Students researched different occupations, investigating the type of work involved, working hours, required skills and qualifications, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each career.
As part of their learning, students also surveyed their families about the different occupations represented within our school community. They categorised the jobs, explored the tasks involved and considered the benefits and challenges associated with each type of work. Students then selected an occupation from their own family history and investigated how that job has changed across generations, considering the impact of technology, society and changing expectations.
This learning culminated in our DBL Parent Immersion, where we welcomed a range of parents and community members into our classrooms to share their careers and experiences. Students had the opportunity to hear first-hand about different occupations, ask questions and discover the many ways people contribute to our community through their work.
A key focus of the immersion was connecting different careers to Catholic Social Teachings, particularly the dignity of work and the importance of using our skills and talents to serve others. It was fantastic to see our students engaged, curious and inspired by the diverse range of careers represented within our community.
A huge thank you to all of our guest speakers for generously sharing their time, knowledge and experiences with our students!

As one of the Sacraments of Initiation, Confirmation is an important milestone that strengthens students in their faith and deepens their connection with the Catholic Church. The students were thoughtfully prepared through their Confirmation Retreat Day, which provided time for prayer, reflection and a deeper understanding of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
A big congratulations to each of these students on this special step in their faith journey. We also extend our sincere thanks to Gen for preparing them so carefully, and to Fr Hien and Bishop Thinh for their guidance and support.
