Year 3/4 News

Students have made a fantastic start to Term 3! It’s been wonderful hearing all about their holiday adventures, and we’re looking forward to an exciting and productive term ahead.
Literacy
In Literacy, we’ve introduced daily Word Work sessions with a weekly sound focus and targeted grammar lessons. These sessions are already making a positive impact, and we’ve been so impressed with the students’ enthusiasm and participation.
Our writing focus this term is poetry. This week, students have been hard at work drafting Haiku poems, a traditional form of Japanese poetry that follows a 5-7-5 syllable pattern.
Numeracy
We’ve launched into a unit on multiplication and division, key skills that support learning across all areas of maths. Students are already making strong connections between the two operations and challenging themselves to improve. We’ll continue building fluency with these number skills throughout the term.
Resilience Project
This week in The Resilience Project, our focus was on Gratitude. Students explored the positive experiences our bodies allow us to enjoy and practised showing appreciation for their bodies and being alive.
