Learning at Meadowbank

Aboriginal Culture and Connection Day

Last week, Violet Johnson in Year 2 and Mr Watts had the opportunity to attend the Aboriginal Culture and Connection Day at Field of Mars, organised by the NSW Aboriginal Education Consultative Group in collaboration with local schools and the Field of Mars Environmental Education team in Gladesville.

Over 60 Aboriginal students from Years 2 to 12 gathered for a day filled with enriching experiences, including nature walks and personal growth challenges. They engaged in activities designed to strengthen community connections while learning about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander beliefs, artefacts, and histories.

This excursion provided a unique chance for our students to deepen their understanding of their culture and build connections with other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and learn from Elders. We are proud of Violet's participation and look forward to more opportunities for cultural learning in the future!
