Message from the Principal

Dear families
As we approach the final week of Term 2, we would like to take a moment to reflect on the hard work and achievements of our students and staff. School will officially finish for the term on Friday, 4 July, and we look forward to welcoming our students back on Tuesday, 22 July. We hope all our families enjoy a well-deserved holiday.
NAIDOC Week 6–13 July The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy
In 2025 NAIDOC Week marks a powerful milestone: 50 years of honoring and elevating Indigenous voices, culture, and resilience. The 2025 theme, "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy," celebrates not only the achievements of the past but the bright future ahead, empowered by the strength of our young leaders, the vision of our communities, and the legacy of our ancestors. I want to take this opportunity to reflect on the importance of this week in our school calendar. NAIDOC Week is a time for all Australians to celebrate the histories, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples. This week our school has integrated special activities and learning for our students in support of this very special week, including a whole school assembly run by our school leaders.
Student Reports – This week
Student reports will be available on the Sentral Parent app this Wednesday. These reports provide valuable insights into your child's academic progress, strengths, and areas for improvement. We encourage you to take the time to review these reports with your child. Remember to print a copy of your child’s report, particularly if they are in Year 6, or may be leaving the school. Once your child is no longer a student at Meadowbank Public School, parents lose access to Sentral.
Parent – Teacher Interviews
We invite parents to schedule parent-teacher interviews during Weeks 2 or 3 of the next term. An email and message on the Sentral Parent app has been sent to all families with details on how to book an appointment. These interviews are a wonderful opportunity to discuss your child's progress and set goals for the upcoming term.
Celebrating Attendance
This week, we will host an attendance celebration to acknowledge and commend our students who have achieved an impressive attendance rate of 95% or higher this term. This includes whole day and part day absences.
This celebration is not only a way to honour student efforts but also to encourage all students to strive for excellent attendance in the future. We are proud of the dedication shown by our students and look forward to celebrating their commitment to education.
This week students who have 100% attendance for the semester will receive a certificate. While we understand that certain circumstances, such as illness or family commitments, may have prevented some students from maintaining a perfect attendance record, it is important to recognise those who have demonstrated consistent dedication to their learning by attending school regularly.
School Development Day – Monday 21 July – Pupil Free Day
On Monday, 21 July, all public schools will hold a School Development Day. This day is dedicated to our teachers, providing them with the time to collaborate on effective teaching strategies, share best practices, and gather essential resources. It’s an important opportunity for our teachers and office staff to ensure that classrooms are well-prepared for the start of Term 3, so that our students can continue their learning journey in an engaging and supportive environment.
Public Education Week - Ignite your potential!
Public Education Week will take place in Week 1 of Term 3. This is a special time to celebrate the achievements of our students, their families, and the work of our dedicated staff. We invite all families to join us for our Open Day on Thursday, July 24. This event will allow you to explore your child’s classroom, our school, engage with teachers and staff, and see firsthand the learning experiences we offer for our students.
Events to look forward to next term
Keep an eye on the Sentral Calendar and newsletter for upcoming events for Term 3. Including 100 Days of Kindergarten, Year 6 Leadership Camp, Athletics Carnivals, Book Fair and Book Week Parade, and many, many more!
We look forward to seeing you there and sharing in the wonderful learning community we have built together!
