Boys Bring Home the Trophy!
Last Thursday, 27th June, our Year 4–6 boys proudly represented SKiPPS at the Tommy Lahiff Cup - a much-loved local tournament featuring schools from across the area. It was a full day of footy, teamwork, and resilience, and what a day it turned out to be!
Two weeks earlier, our SKiPPS girls had done themselves and our school proud by finishing third in their tournament. Inspired by their efforts, the boys took the field with determination, grit and a clear goal in mind.
A team of 16 enthusiastic Year 4 to Year 6 boys proudly represented SKiPPS at the annual AFL Tommy Lahiff Cup. Spirits were high as we made our way to North Port Oval, buzzing with nerves and anticipation for the first game.
Led by our coach, Lyndon, the boys took to the field with determination and great sportsmanship. Lyndon’s coaching style was a standout, he truly listened to the players, built their confidence, and brought out the best in each of them. Each of the boys should be so proud of how they represented their school.
Across four games against other local schools, the team remained undefeated. Every player made a valuable contribution, whether it was strong marking, clever handballing, relentless tackling, smart decision-making, or powerful kicks and never giving up. From the opening throw up to the final siren, the boys displayed teamwork, resilience, and heart.
In a gripping grand final, the boys were down by 5 points as the siren sounded. But in a dramatic finish, a push in the back gave us one final shot. And with nerves of steel, a goal was kicked after the siren to secure victory!
The Tommy Lahiff Cup will now sit proudly in our school foyer for another year, a symbol of the team’s hard work, sportsmanship, and determination
Thanks again to Bec Walton for taking these great photos of the big day!
Congratulations, SKiPPS footy champs - you brought it home!
