Term 2 - Week 10

Principal’s Report

As we wrap up Term 2, I want to take a moment to sincerely thank our entire school community for another wonderful term at St Kilian’s Primary School.

To our dedicated staff, thank you for your continued passion, care and commitment to our students' learning and wellbeing. Your tireless efforts make a lasting difference each and every day.

To our students, congratulations on all you have achieved this term. Your hard work, curiosity and positive spirit are what make our school such a vibrant and joyful place to be.

And to our families, thank you for your ongoing support and partnership in your child’s education. It is through this shared commitment that we create a strong and thriving community.

As we head into the winter break, I hope you all find time to rest, recharge and enjoy the simple pleasures that bring you joy, whether that's time with family and friends, curling up with a good book or getting outside for some fresh air.

Grade 3 to 6 School Athletics

Congratulations to our students in grade 3 to 6 for their fabulous effort during Monday’s School Athletics, every student participated with passion and determination which is commendable. To Mrs Vaughan, thank you for your outstanding planning, preparation and tireless effort in delivering such a successful School Athletics day for our Grade 3 to 6 students.

It was a wonderful day, beautifully organised, full of energy and clearly enjoyed by students, staff and the many family supporters who came along. Your commitment ensured everything ran smoothly and the positive atmosphere throughout the day was a testament to your hard work.

Mrs Vaughan will work through the next phase of students for Catholic selection which will be shared with the students and families at a later date.  A special thank you also to our staff for their support on the day and to the students from BSSC who generously gave their time and assistance. I would like to also acknowledge our student’s cheerleaders - our families and special friends who came along to enjoy the day.

Feast Day Celebrations

Today we are celebrating St Kilian, the patron saint of our school and parish. We will share some photos next term of this wonderful celebration.

Unit Assemblies

Unit Assemblies begin next term; they will include all aspects of the Monday morning assembly with the addition of the unit presentation.  These assemblies will take place in the school hall where students are seated. Each unit takes a turn presenting at the assembly.

All proceeds go to support those in need this winter.

What to bring: We are collecting donations of new Donations of Scarves, Socks, Beanies St Vincent de Paul. Let’s help bring warmth to those doing it tough this winter.

Semester 1 Student Reports & Learning Conversations

Over the past week, our staff have been gathering valuable information about each student’s learning progress. This has included summative assessments, and a review of the learning data collected throughout the semester. These insights will inform each student’s Semester 1 Report, which will be a comprehensive summary of their learning and growth during the first half of 2025. Reports will be made available to families via SIMON on the last Thursday of this term.

To further support student learning, we will hold Learning Conversations early next term on the following dates: Tuesday 29th July, Wednesday 30th July and Tuesday 5th August.

Learning Conversations are a valuable opportunity for parents, students, and teachers to come together to reflect on learning achievements, review work samples, and set goals for the remainder of the year. These 15–20 minute meetings allow students to share their learning journey, describe challenges they have faced, and identify areas for future growth. We strongly encourage all families to take part. If you are unable to attend during these times, please contact your child’s classroom teacher to make alternative arrangements.
