Building Resilience in Our Children: A Foundation for Life
At St Anne’s, we believe that education is about so much more than just academic achievement. One of the most valuable skills we can help our children develop is resilience—the ability to bounce back from challenges, adapt to change, and persevere through life’s ups and downs.
In an ever-changing world, resilience helps children manage stress, build confidence, and develop the inner strength they need to grow into happy, capable young people. Whether it's working through a tricky piece of homework, resolving a disagreement with a friend, or coping with a disappointment, resilient children are better equipped to navigate both the classroom and the world beyond it.
What Does Resilience Look Like at St Anne’s? You might see it in a child who keeps trying even after getting something wrong, a student who asks for help when they’re stuck, or one who comforts a friend going through a tough time. Resilience doesn’t mean never feeling sad or frustrated—it means having the tools to recover, learn, and keep going.
How We Support Resilience at St Anne’s:
- Strong relationships with caring teachers and classmates help children feel safe and valued.
- We promote a growth mindset, encouraging students to learn from mistakes and celebrate effort.
- Wellbeing programs and emotional literacy activities help students name their feelings and manage them constructively.
- Our classrooms encourage problem-solving and persistence through supportive, child-friendly challenges.
How You Can Help at Home:
- Give your child chances to solve problems independently.
- Celebrate their efforts, not just their results.
- Model calm and consistent reactions, even during stressful times.
- Talk openly about emotions and how to handle them.
Together—at school and at home—we can give our children the resilience they need to succeed, not just academically but in all areas of life.
Let’s continue to nurture strength, kindness, and confidence in every St Anne’s child.

Thank You for Partnering with Us
A heartfelt thank you to all the families who have recently taken the time to meet with our school team to discuss your child’s learning journey. Your insights, support, and collaboration are invaluable as we work together to support each student’s growth and success.
As a follow-up to these important conversations, Personalised Learning Plans (PLPs) and meeting notes will be sent home within the next week. These documents reflect the shared goals and strategies we discussed and serve as a guide for ongoing support throughout the term.
We deeply appreciate your partnership and look forward to continuing to work together in the best interests of your child’s learning and wellbeing.
