Sisters in Sport Leadership Day
Kambala's Sport Leaders and Year 10 committee members were invited to attend the Sisters in Sport Leadership Day. The girls listened to a number of Australian representatives across a range of sports including Cricket, Diving, Netball and Rugby Union. Each speaker outlined their journey to the Olympics or Australian representation including the setbacks they faced through Injury, illness or tragic events in their lives. They spoke of how their 'failures' built resilience and determination to improve and succeed not just in sport but in life. The girls participated in a leadership workshop to explore how they see themselves as leaders and learned to focus on areas they can continue to improve and acknowledge the areas in which they excel.
The girls are pictured with four time Olympic diver Melissa Wu.
Kambala Shines at IGSA Representative Trials
On Monday 19 February we had 4 girls' trial for IGSA representative teams. First up was our three Tennis players: Arabella Bugden, Mila Duchen and Claire-Elyse Waked. The girls travelled to Pymble Ladies College early in the morning to compete against 24 of IGSA’s finest Tennis players to gain a position on the IGSA Tennis team. All girls played some outstanding Tennis on the day which will only benefit them at the upcoming Tildesley Tournament. A huge congratulations to Arabella Bugden who was selected in the IGSA Tennis representative team! Arabella is the first Kambala student in at least 24 years, possibly ever, to make the IGSA Tennis team. An amazing achievement. We wish her the best of luck in the upcoming CIS trials.
In the afternoon Minty Welsh headed to St Catherine’s to trial for the IGSA Water Polo team. Minty is an extremely dedicated and successful water polo player. She has been in NSW teams, Australian squads and just recently became an official member of the Australian National Water Polo league, playing for Cronulla Sharks. An outstanding achievement for a junior player. The IGSA Water Polo team is something that Minty has also been striving to be a part of and on Monday she was selected into the team. Minty will represent IGSA at the upcoming CIS trials. We wish Minty all the best in the upcoming trials!
